Exotic disease focus: Classical swine fever

چکیده
SURVEILLANCE 37 (1) 2010 07 NEW ZEALAND AND OVERSEAS STATUS CSF is an OIE listed disease2 and listed in New Zealand as an unwanted notifiable organism3. Reports of a disease diagnosed as swine fever were not uncommon in New Zealand between 1894 and 1904 although it has been subsequently suggested that these were more likely to be due to pasteurellosis or salmonellosis4. Outbreaks of CSF were recorded in 13 New Zealand herds in 1933 and an outbreak affecting a single herd was described in 1953. In both these cases infection was linked to the feeding of imported food waste4, 5. CSF last occurred in New Zealand in 19536.

Glutaraldehyde inactivation of exotic animal viruses in swine heart tissue.
Glutaraldehyde, 0.2%, in a 1:100 (wt/vol) ratio, inactivated four animal viruses (foot-and-mouth disease, swine vesicular disease, African swine fever, hog cholera) in swine heart tissues during 11-day exposures at 22 to 26 degrees C.

The ADDL continues to participate in national surveillance programs for classical swine fever, avian influenza, chronic wasting disease, scrapie and foot and mouth disease. The national program for routine surveillance for exotic Newcastle disease has been discontinued. The program for surveillance for classical swine fever has been expanded to include samples collected by Indiana private pract...
متن کاملThe inactivation of foot and mouth disease, Aujeszky's disease and classical swine fever viruses in pig slurry.
The aim of the study was to investigate the decontamination of pig slurry containing exotic viruses of pigs, foot AND mouth disease virus (FMDV), Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV) AND classical swine fever virus (CSFV). Laboratory-scale decontamination experiments showed that FMDV, ADV and CSFV were heat inactivated in slurry within 3 min at 67 degrees C, 3 min at 62 degrees C and 3 min at 60 degr...
متن کاملA systems approach to the policy-level risk assessment of exotic animal diseases: network model and application to classical swine fever.
Exotic animal diseases (EADs) are characterized by their capacity to spread global distances, causing impacts on animal health and welfare with significant economic consequences. We offer a critique of current import risk analysis approaches employed in the EAD field, focusing on their capacity to assess complex systems at a policy level. To address the shortcomings identified, we propose a nov...
متن کاملEfficacy of vaporized hydrogen peroxide against exotic animal viruses.
The efficacy of vapor-phase hydrogen peroxide in a pass-through box for the decontamination of equipment and inanimate materials potentially contaminated with exotic animal viruses was evaluated. Tests were conducted with a variety of viral agents, which included representatives of several virus families (Orthomyxoviridae, Reoviridae, Flaviviridae, Paramyxoviridae, Herpesviridae, Picornaviridae...
